Default How to motivate members to join gvg and use ts

Its a problem in my guild to get enough members to gvg and to use ts, without excuses like i didnt download it or i dont have a microphone(which you dont really need anyways). Its also a problem getting 8 members, even at peek times in a guild with more than 50 players. As a senior officer i have to address the issue somehow, you can post your ideas here, feebback would be greatly appreciated.

Well since you mentioned having trouble getting 8 on for battles, your problem lies more with inactivity than anything else I would think.

Right your member don???t seem to be interested in the *small* hassle of downloading and installing TS, maybe because they don???t feel that it will lead to them gvging as this won???t make you have 8 on and a that point for them it???s just an installation chore that will lead to nothing.

Now since you have number problems, fist step would be to recruit new members, just make sure you recruit new members that do have an interest for gvg and this should help you to get the ball rolling and hopefully by rebound spike some interest in some of your existing members.

My two cents.

If your problem is not from inactivity but more that members dont want to join in gvg i suggest getting into unrated match. It happens that some people would rather not gvg because they don't want to make the team lose from lack of experience. Unratted is a good way to practice and to gain experience and confidence.

If its from lack of activity make sure to recruit new people interested in gvg and can work with TS.

50 members and you can't get 8? As others have mentioned, you must have an inactivity problem (i.e. you've only got 7 active members out of 50) - that or you've got not enough guild members in the same timezone.

All I can recommend is from the start when you recruit make it a PRE-REQUISITE that new members have Ventrilo or TS. It's not that much of a hassle, especially if you're on anything above 56k.

To get them to play GvG is a harder problem, especially if your guild is new or the members are more interested in PvE/farming. However, if you can encourage certain people to try out GvG hopefully their friends will follow.

If your current playerbase is not interested in GvG, there is nothing you can really do about it. I'd just recommend recruiting some players who want to GvG. Forcing people to do things they don't really want to do, is pointless anyway.

Another possibility would be to ally with another guild and guest some of them for your GvG actitivies.

@Marc: It's not necessarly an inactivity problem. My own guild has around 40 members, but we are in different timezones, thus causing us to have a "find 8 people" problem, too.

Timezone issues can make it hard for guilds to pull members together to do things. But if that is not the issue you might want to re-think your guikld requirements.

I think Ventrilo/Teamspeak is so important to a healthy guild. We require members to use it if they plan on doing any guild related events. No exceptions. We also require that members at least refresh their accounts once a month. Because there is nothing worse than seeing a guild with 50 members and 40 of them had not even longed in once in a month.

As far as getting members interested in GvG/PvP, that tends to be harder. I find many players in GW, who do not really get the concept of an online game, they tend to interact as if it is a single-player game. But the richness of online games is that you can interact with people thus increasing your fun. Other people have never experienced Player vs Player fighting and to a new person that is very overwhleming. It will take time for people to learn the ropes, but I find if you can ease players into PvP they will become very addicted to it. So hang in there it will get better.

Lack of confidence can be a major factor in people not wanting to gvg, I'd suggest posting up a few builds on your forums, as well as a schedule thread to find out what times folks will be on and available to play. also links to good forum threads explaining th ebasics of pvp might help

best of luck

About the Teamspeak part, when you are recruiting, make sure members download or have Teamspeak before letting them in the guild. As for getting members on teamspeak, if you and another member or two already use teamspeak, never talk on the guild channel, and whenever members ask what you are doing, say on Teamspeak or something. If members can not have Teamspeak and still have the same experience as if they did have it, they won't get it, all it is is a hassel to download. If they feel they are missing something by not having it, they might download it.

Default I feel your pain

Im currently trying to get all the members in my guild to go with TeamSpeak. As far as gvg we have been doing unranked matches. Will go with who ever is on, if we have to grab a hench oh well. Getting people practicing and going i think is they key. As far as Team Speak evil answer for you. When players ask for help tell them sure if they will download ts real quick so u can chat while u help. if they dont got a mic then tell them thats ok atleast you can hear me. Other way is get 3-4 of your members on ts and going farming with one who doesnt, he will eiter be extremly bored or get it =)
